I feel very honoured and extemely flattered to have been asked by Elise to be her Abroad Blog Of The Week. THANK YOU ELISE!
If you haven’t already subscribed to this Abroad Blog of the Week, you’ll want to. I came across Lottie Nevin when I first started blogging about six months ago. I was hooked by Lottie’s blunt honesty but humorous take on the difficulties of being a Brit new to Jakarta. She is also a fabulous story-teller and frequently weaves previous life experiences into her present day predicaments. Lottie just celebrated her one-year blog birthday (huge congrats!) and her blog is a great source of funny advice for anyone considering a move to Indonesia. Want proof? Just keep reading for my interview with Lottie…I promise she’ll have you laughing by the end.
Looking back on this first year of living in Jakarta, what are you most proud of?
My greatest achievement thus far, is managing to avoid falling into any of the open sewers that are such an attractive feature of Jakarta…

You’re just as funny in a Q & A as you are in your blog posts, Lottie! Love the interview. Cheers, xxxxx Steph 🙂
Awww! thanks Steff. That’s lovely of you! Glad you enjoyed it. It was a fun thing to be asked to do xxxxx
Congrats Lottie! Well deserved.
🙂 Thank you Sherry. Hope all going well for you? I need to catch up with what you’ve been up to. Staying in Flores at the moment and internet a bit hit and miss. It’s the most wonderful place, you should check it out when you come back.
What one learns about another blogger. Is that called the great reveal? I enjoyed your post very much and got in some much needed laughs. Of all the things that I have learned from your posts- the toilet squat and “drop” is the best. Here is where I must really express my gratitue for where I live.
Again, I dont’ think I could survive there. The toilet thing reminds me of camping in the woods
I’m delighted that you got some laughs. I know you are not a huge fan of travelling, but I’m sure you’d cope marvellously. You’d be amazed about how quickly things that normally freak one out become easier. That said, the squat and drop is one thing that I shall never get my head around. Thanks as always for your lovely comments Yvonne 🙂
