Happy, Smiley People

On Saturday morning we made our usual pilgrimage to the fish market at Jimbaran. Little did any of us know that a few hours later a Lion Air plane was going to crash into the sea, just a few 100 metres from where all of these photographs were taken. Mercifully there were no fatalities but it sent shock waves around the island and panic into my heart as just that very morning I had booked tickets for a Lion Air flight from Jogja to Denpasar for this Thursday evening.

As we left Bali yesterday for our flight back to Jakarta, they were still trying to lift the remains of the plane out of the water, it’s not really what you want to see as you are taking off on the first of 4 flights this week!

My lovely blogging mate Yvonne made encouraging noises about the photos that I took for my Beautiful People post and suggested that I maybe make it a regular feature on here. Just in case my plane does fall out of the sky this week, I’m going to slot in another portrait post. Hopefully it won’t be my last.

My thoughts go out to all of those who were on the fated Lion Air plane and I hope that those who were injured and in hospital, are making a speedy recovery.

  2. Do you ask people before you take their pictures or do you just sneak up on them and take it? I often see people who I think would make good pictures but I’m too shy to ask them

    1. I always ask. I never assume it’s ok to take someones picture. When I’ve taken a picture, I always show it to the person/people – that way they have a chance to say ‘OH NO!’ or YAY!

  4. Gee Lottie I have been thinking about you and all of the planes you have been and will be traveling in/on. I think about you often and about your safety. You and Pete will continue to be in my prayers.

Thanks so much for posting this wonderful group of individuals. As usual these are all so darn good. I really like the children. The pics of the musician are my favorites. I’m so glad that you chose to post portraits again. Keep them coming our way.
